Functions

The Canada Infrastructure Bank will strategically invest at least $35 billion over the next decade, and will draw in additional private-sector capital that would not have otherwise been invested in public infrastructure.

We will build capabilities in the following functions:

  • Structuring and delivering federal support for revenue-generating infrastructure
  • Investing in projects through a range of financial tools (debt, equity, loan guarantees)
  • Considering unsolicited proposals from private sector investors
  • Working cooperatively with all orders of government as well as investors to identify a pipeline of projects and potential investment opportunities
  • Acting as a centre of expertise on infrastructure projects involving private- sector investment
  • Advising governments on revenue-generating infrastructure projects
  • Working with all orders of government to collect and share data to inform future investments
